The Language of Intuitive Colour
Watercolour Mastery for the Heart-Prioritizing Artist
Struggling to mix, layer and use colour in watercolour while keeping it fresh and alive? Does your perfectionism leave your painting feeling overworked and lifeless?
Colour is the heartbeat of watercolour, yet so often artists are taught strict, controlling approaches that leave little room for play or personal expression. But what if the “questionable” choices in your painting could actually help it come alive?
In Watercolour Mastery, colour becomes a playful partner — helping you explore, experiment, and express your unique voice.
You’ll discover how to let your instincts guide your painting, turning uncertainty into vibrant, flowing colour, and bringing your work to life in ways that feel effortless and inspired.
As you work with colour relationally, you'll start to see transformation in your paintings...and in your own approach to watercolour.

Topics covered in this course:
Use Colour as Structure: Build strong, simplified foundations for your paintings by understanding how colour relationships create design, depth, and clarity — before detail ever enters the picture.
Use Colour as Emotional Voice: Move beyond technical correctness and begin working with colour instinctively, allowing your paintings to carry mood, nuance, and personal expression.
Work With “Mistakes” Instead of Against Them: Learn practical strategies for transforming a struggling painting. Instead of searching for the “right” answer, you’ll respond to what’s happening on the page — and let colour guide the solution.
Experience True Creative Freedom: Release the pressure of rigid colour rules and develop simple, repeatable strategies that allow you to flow with your painting rather than manage it.
Three Live Sessions with Angela to Deepen Your Practice (dates & times TBA)
Online Classroom for Feedback and Inspiration: Share your work and what you're learning and be a part of a supportive community of heart-prioritizing artists
A six week guidebook designed to help you learn how to simplify, experiment and trust your instincts, turning hesitancy into freedom, tension into trust, and resulting in paintings that sing in YOUR voice.
Watercolour Mastery is a series of classes aimed at helping you move to the next level in your watercolour journey, that of becoming a confident, fearless and heart-led master of your craft. You'll be guided lesson by lesson into independence, with exercises, demos and artist talks that show you not just ways of creating more expressive, beautiful art, but how to see and feel your own artistic voice. Each module builds your confidence while keeping joy and curiosity front and center.
Watercolour Mastery: The Language of Intuitive Colour begins Thursday, March 26, with the release of your first lessons.
Because each of the three modules is rich and immersive, the course unfolds in two-week increments — giving you time to absorb, experiment, and truly apply what you’re learning.
Module 1: March 26
Module 2: April 9
Module 3: April 23
Each module introduces a core concept for working with colour, followed by guided assignments to help you put it into practice right away. You’ll also watch in-depth demonstrations where I share my own process — showing you how these ideas translate into expressive, authentic paintings.
In addition to the recorded lessons, you’ll join me for three live Interactive Development Sessions on Zoom. These sessions are an opportunity to go deeper — ask questions, gain clarity, and see how others are approaching their work. We’ll reflect, troubleshoot, and strengthen your understanding together in real time.
Throughout the course, you’ll have access to the Heart-Led Artist Classroom, where you can share your work, ask questions, and learn alongside a supportive community of artists.
You’ll receive weekly emails announcing lesson releases, offering reflection prompts, and encouraging consistent painting practice. For the best results, plan to invest 3–5 hours per week engaging with lessons and painting.
Watercolour Mastery is offered just once each year.
If you’re ready to deepen your relationship with colour, build confidence in your decisions, and grow your artistic voice, this is your opportunity to begin.
“A huge thank you for Watercolour Mastery Course! Apart from taking up watercolour in the first place 4 years ago, doing your course has been one of my best decisions ever. I was apprehensive as the title Mastery made me wonder if it would be too advanced for me, a loose painter, an advanced beginner....thoroughly enjoying my art but was stuck! I needed this course to progress; fun, freedom, encouraging fearlessness and first class, nicely paced knowhow.”
“Angela is great because she teaches the technique and then encourages all her students to use what they’ve learned to be their own artist. We don’t copy we play! And the process of creating is more valuable than the outcome. When you paint with that freedom and encourage you grow as an artist.”
“I would highly recommend Mastery when you are ready to give yourself the gift of art in your life. It's a comprehensive overview of skill sets that I will go back to over and over. ”
My failed paintings drove me to try again...and again, and again, until I reached a result that said what I wanted it to say.
Frustration pushed me to look for guidance when growth didn’t seem to come on my own. And frustration caused me to look for new paths when the old ones didn’t get me to my destination.
Are you frustrated today? It doesn’t mean you’re failing!
Maybe you’re at your own turning point; one you will look back on as the day you took a step in a new direction and everything changed.
Watercolour Mastery is designed to help you shape your art practice to fit YOU. You get to take the "rules" of art and make or break them. You get to choose the route that leads to the most freedom of expression, and it will help you love your art journey and the art that is made out of your heart-led process.
More about this Watercolor Mastery series
Have you ever heard an art instructor describe a rule or a process for making art and thought, "Well, I could never do that?"
Has the world of painting felt like it's divided into two categories; artists who are naturally gifted and people like you, who have to fight for every bit of growth and worry you're failing most of the time?
I can describe myself as that artist; I felt like the best I could hope to do was to be kind of an average artist who made mediocre work. I wanted to grow, but I couldn't muster the discipline to practice the techniques that the art world insisted were essential. I felt like a failure most of the time as I made painting after painting riddled with mistakes.
I have one thing going for me; I never gave up.
And being too stubborn to quit gave me one huge advantage; time.
Over time I realized, I didn't have to try to squeeze myself into a mold or follow all the rules. Maybe there is a way of painting that can be all mine, where I can make art feed my soul; playful, joyful, free.
I wasted far too much time feeling pressure to be someone I was not. In my painting practice, I get to be the most authentic version of myself; the childlike early joy I found in making art is rediscovered, and I can reject any thinking that limits me or pushes me to perform.
There are turning points in every artist’s journey, pivotal moments that may have felt small or insignificant at the time, but served as markers for change. In my own artistic history, I look back with gratitude on these moments, because they served as pushes to help me find the freedom to create the art I longed to make and to be an artist who can boldly say, “I am my own favorite artist.”
